Edem Kwame Tornyie is an Independent Evaluator, Development Planner, and Senior Policy Analyst with over 15 years of experience designing and leading monitoring, evaluation, and compliance frameworks across West Africa. His appointment to the Empower Skilled Trades Foundation’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Risk & Compliance Committee reflects his deep commitment to evidence-based governance, accountability, and organizational effectiveness.
Edem brings proven expertise in performance tracking, risk assessment, results frameworks, and regulatory oversight skills directly aligned with this committee’s mandate. His extensive track record managing evaluations for USAID, GIZ, UNICEF, JICA, the Mastercard Foundation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation demonstrate his ability to translate complex data into actionable recommendations that drive strategic decision-making.
Currently serving as Vice President at VIS Afrika and Senior Policy Analyst at Development Insight Hub, Edem leads institutional capacity-strengthening initiatives and mentors the next generation of evaluation professionals. His sectoral knowledge in governance, social protection, SME development, and gender equity further enriches the Foundation’s oversight work.
