Strengthening Leadership and Accountability

To ensure strong, effective governance, the Empower Skilled Trades Foundation operates through dedicated Board Governance Committees. These committees support the work of the Board of Trustees by focusing on key areas that require specialized attention, insight, and oversight. By organizing responsibilities into focused groups, committees help enhance decision-making, promote accountability, and ensure that the Foundation remains aligned with its mission and values.

Purpose and Role

Board Governance Committees play an essential role in supporting the work of the Board of Trustees by providing focused expertise, thoughtful analysis, and informed recommendations on key areas of the Foundation's operations and strategy. While the Board retains overall decision-making authority, these committees enable more detailed examination of important issues, helping ensure that decisions are well-informed, effective, and aligned with the Foundation's mission.

Through this collaborative governance structure, the Foundation benefits from the diverse knowledge and experience of its members. Each committee focuses on a specific area of responsibility, strengthening accountability, improving oversight, and supporting sustainable organizational growth.

The Communication & Branding Committee guides the Foundation's voice, identity, and public presence, ensuring that all communications consistently reflect our mission, values, and impact while strengthening engagement with our stakeholders.

The Fundraising & Development Committee focuses on securing the resources needed to advance the Foundation's work. By cultivating donor relationships, identifying new funding opportunities, and supporting long-term development strategies, the committee helps ensure the sustainability of our programs and future growth.

The Strategic Partnership Committee works to build meaningful relationships with industry leaders, educational institutions, government agencies, and community organizations. These partnerships expand opportunities, strengthen collaboration, and increase the Foundation's ability to create lasting impact.

The Gender Equality & Safeguarding Committee promotes a culture of inclusion, equity, and respect throughout the organization. It helps ensure that all programs, policies, and practices provide a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for everyone we serve.

The Monitoring, Evaluation, Risk & Compliance Committee strengthens organizational accountability by assessing program performance, monitoring outcomes, identifying and managing risks, and ensuring compliance with applicable policies, governance standards, and regulatory requirements.

The Human Resources & Remuneration Committee supports the Foundation's people strategy by providing oversight on leadership development, talent management, succession planning, compensation, and workplace culture, helping foster a positive and high-performing organization.

The Finance & Audit Committee provides oversight of the Foundation's financial management, including budgeting, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit processes. Through responsible financial stewardship, the committee helps safeguard the Foundation's resources and ensures long-term financial sustainability.
