Henry Sibusiso Mhlanga
Henry Mhlanga is a seasoned leader with extensive experience spanning education, technical trades, and community development. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Mission for Youth Development Initiative (MYDI), where he leads community-based programs focused on youth empowerment, skills development, and social transformation in South Africa .
Henry brings over two decades of experience across both public and private sectors. He began his career as a Mathematics and Physical Science teacher in the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Basic Education before transitioning into industry, where he worked for more than a decade as a Millwright with South32, providing technical expertise and mentorship . This unique combination enables him to connect education, technical training, and workforce readiness effectively.
An ETDP-certified practitioner, Henry is skilled in training design, facilitation, and learner development, with additional qualifications in business management, educational leadership, and electromechanical training . Through his leadership at MYDI, he has played a key role in building partnerships and mobilizing community support to sustain and expand youth-focused programs.
As a member of the Fundraising & Development Committee, Henry contributes practical insight into community engagement, partnership development, and sustainable program growth. His experience in leading grassroots initiatives strengthens the Foundation’s approach to resource mobilization by aligning donor engagement with community-driven impact.
Henry remains deeply committed to empowering youth and advancing inclusive development through education, technical skills, and values of integrity, compassion, and excellence.
