A Story of Skill, Opportunity, and Impact

Empower Skilled Trades Foundation was created from a simple but powerful realization: talent exists everywhere, but opportunity does not. Our organization was born in Alberta, Canada, after years of firsthand work across African communities revealed both the incredible potential of youths and the systemic barriers that kept that potential from becoming opportunity.

Our founders spent years engaging with women, youth, and local leaders across Africa—listening, learning, and witnessing the resilience, determination, and skill that existed in abundance. Yet again and again, they encountered the same challenges: limited access to quality training, outdated or inaccessible curricula, a lack of certified instructors, and few pathways to meaningful employment or global mobility. These experiences sparked a vision: to build an organization that could help close this gap by strengthening training ecosystems, expanding access to highquality vocational education, and creating ethical pathways to employment and migration.

From that vision, Empower Skilled Trades Foundation (ESTF) was formed. Today, ESTF delivers inclusive, Red Seal–aligned skilled trades training to underserved individuals across Africa. Our work includes curriculum alignment, instructor development, leadership training, digital learning tools, and safeguarding practices that protect youth and uphold dignity. Everything we do is rooted in community, shaped by cultural sensitivity, and guided by a commitment to ensuring no young person or woman is left behind simply because opportunity was out of reach.

As we continue to grow and prepare for our upcoming training cycles, our mission remains the same: to equip individuals with the skills, confidence, and opportunities they deserve—uplifting families, strengthening communities, and helping bridge global workforce gaps.

This is our story. A story of potential, partnership, and possibility. A story we are still writing—together.
